Something NEW! I'm playing with gouache (say gwash), which is opaque watercolor. Boy, do I have a lot to learn! But I'm having fun.
These are all tiny, maybe in the 2x3" range. The white paper is just a sketch pad, 100 lb. paper , and the colored pieces are on construction paper. Now, don't laugh! I said it was for fun.

Oh my...what wonderful studies Deborah, I just love them! Would you sell me your "Field" study, I have just the small frame for it...plus I would love to add a Secor to my art collection, even if it is a mini! :)
Let me know, and have a blessed Christmas Deb.
David
Aw, thanks David! I've sent an e-mail to you... I really appreciate your enthusiasm and encouragement for me in this medium.
Merry Christmas to you, too!
they are lovely Deborah! I bet they would make great underpaintings for pastels!
Thank you, Joni. I think they'll make lovely underpaintings for pastels, yes! The dusty look to the surface of the dried paint seems to invite a layer of pastel. Right now I want to figure out this medium a bit more. I'm totally intriqued with it.
These are so nice, Deborah! My only problem with gouache is that it dries up so fast. I guess you have to mist your palette often? Oh, I also wanted to tell you how much your "Should the Yellow Brag?" post meant to me. Thanks so much for that.
Hi Donna. Thanks!
Well, right now I'm just learning how to cope with having it dry quickly. I have a teensy little palette and I mix microscopic amounts. Well, maybe a bit more... It's a challenge!
I'm glad the 'Yellow' post touched you, too. Makes me smile.
These are beautiful. So creative. Are they all coming from your imagination? I really like Field2. How much are you asking for it?
Michele
I'm only asking $20 each, but I hate to tell you that Field 2 is gone... Wouldn't you know it?Sorry!
I don't just make them up, no. I have a lot of landscape photos that I've taken over the last 25 years or so. I just go through them and pull out the one that inspires me at that moment, then edit or change things, and loosely interpret what I see. It's a fun way to paint! I'm so glad you like them. Thanks!
Hi, Deborah,
Love the gouache studies.
You bring to that media your great knowledge of using color in pastels. All too often people using watercolor and gouache over mix and come out with less than exciting color! Your light touch on the mixing and applying give a real sparkle to these studies!
Thanks for sharing these gems.
